Item Description: <p><u><b>Details</u></b> <ul> <li><b>Description: </b>Antique cast iron doorstop cast in the form of an urn with three pink flowers with green leaves under them. The flowers have red dots in their centers. The urn is yellow in color and has a pedestal style base. The back is colored in an off-white color. The detail on the piece is great where you can see the details of the urn, the leaves and the flowers. Just wonderful! This is a nice size piece and weighs over 2 pounds. Please see John & Nancy Smith's book "The Doorstop Book: An Encyclopedia of Doorstop Collecting" Published by Schiffer Books, Atglen, PA in 2006, page 52 for a similar example. Please view photos as they are part and parcel of the description. <br><br> <li><b>Date: </b>Early to mid 20th Century <br><br> <li><b>Origin: </b>Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA <br><br> <li><b>Size: </b>7 1/2" high and 6 1/8" at its widest. The base is ~2" by 4". <br><br> <li><b>Maker: </b>Hubley. <br><br> <li><b>Marks: </b>Marked with number 488 on the back. <br><br> <li><b>Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: </b>This is definitely a nice and relatively scarce doorstop. It weighs over 2 pounds and has most of its original paint. <br><br> <li><b>Condition: </b>This doorstop is in excellent condition with no breaks or repairs. It is all original and retains quite a bit of its original paint. It does have loss to the paint on the high spots of the flowers and leaves as well as the corners. It also has some rust spots all of which can be seen in the photos.
