The ornate ironwork is decorated with elaborate age-mellowed gold-highlighted floral and geometric designs. The top is a small round pierced iron platform that is inscribed "Holloway Reading Stand & Dictionary Holder / Style A / Cuyahoga Falls / Ohio / U.S.A." Detailed Lions' paw feet with wooden casters highlight the base. The center column has holders for extra books. Above this two arms extend with wooden holders for books. One has brass clips to hold the page. The two lecterns are adjustable and removable. The top of the stand supports a heavy dictionary or bible. I believe this is the original paint. </strong></span></font></p><p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 40px; margin-right: 40px; font-weight: bold;"><font size="3"><span style="color: rgb(0, 128, 128);"><strong>The stand is approximately 34 1/2" high with some adjustment possible. One book holder or lectern is 16 1/2" by 12" and the other is 8 1/2" by 12". The base is approximately 18" square with the casters extending a little further. The condition is excellent, the paint is in wonderful condition, the wooden book platforms have no cracks or chips and have acquired a nice honey patina, but it is a bit dusty. Casters are in great shape. The wood platforms are adjustable and one screw that tightens them is the only part that has been replaced. We have a copy of an advertisement for this very stand and if we can find it, we will post it to this listing and include a copy with the stand. The stand was marketed for home library and invalid use, but was clearly a luxury item and meant to enhance wealthier Victorian homes and libraries. </strong></span></font></p><p style="text-align: left; margin-left: 40px; margin-right: 40px;"><big><span style="color: rgb(0, 128, 128);"><strong><big><font size="3"><span style="font-weight: bold;">This can be picked up in Central New York (within 30-60 minutes by car from Ithaca, Syracuse, and Binghamton) or we can disassemble it and ship it in 2 boxes, UPS ground.
