I'm guessing from the marks on the metal plate beneath the handle that this iron is of Irish origin as there is a mark of a harp surmounted by a crown and flanked by E on the left and T on the right. Also, on the hinged lid of the iron is the mark 6-1/4, which I think refers to the weight of the iron as it does weigh about 6.25 pounds, however it also measures about 6.25 inches on one side. In addition it measures just under 9" tall, and about 4.5" wide at widest.<br>This item looks hand-made, but I can't say for sure.<br>Condition seems to be very good, and the lock mechanism to keep the iron lid closed is tight, however, there is an opening at the back that seems to be missing a swinging cover of some kind. I may be wrong about this, but mentioning it in case this matters. <br>Similar irons are listed elsewhere for around $200 - $250, I'm starting this one off at only $49.
